National Rounds Played

Prior to 1999 the golf industry didn't have an actionable, accurate indicator of the amount of golf being played around the country. Golf Datatech's report was not designed to try to count the actual number of rounds being played, as that would always be inaccurate. Instead the National Rounds Played Report is meant to monitor trends and indicate whether rounds are up or down compared to the same month in the previous year.

The concept for the report is rather simple: Golf courses throughout the U.S. report monthly to Golf Datatech how many rounds they counted as being played at their course in the previous month. These rounds are compared to the same courses' rounds played in the same month in the previous year and a percentage is determined. A representative number of courses are included in each "region" of the country. A region can be as large as several states or provinces, or as small as a single city. When a new course joins the report, its monthly rounds played are collected for the 12 previous months.

Golf Datatech solicits the data, collects the rounds played, tabulates the numbers and distributes monthly reports for the industry. This report is the single most common denominator to every company touching the golf industry. All golf courses in the U.S. are invited to participate in the report. The latest findings are emailed directly to our participants, at no charge, as soon as they are available.

Below is a sample of our report. If you don't see your MSA (city) listed here, please contact Golf Datatech to learn how your MSA can be included.
