The golf industry’s total sales figures
for 2013 are still a few weeks from being
released, but it already looks like it was
a resurgent year for iron sales. Numbers
for November continued that trend, according to industry
researcher Golf Datatech’s report of iron sales at onand
off-course shops. Units showed a 6.3-percent boost,
and dollars were up 16.4 percent compared to November
2012. The estimated $25.3 million in sales was the highest
for the month since 2007 and fifth best since 1997.
Although November will never match the sales seen in
spring and summer months, there has been a trend for
companies to launch products in the fall. November
2013 iron sales were clearly fueled by successful introductions
from a handful of major companies that
ranged from players irons—Ping S55 and Titleist
AP2 —to game-improvement sets—Adams Idea,
Cobra Baffler XL, Mizuno JPX-EZ and Taylor-
Made SpeedBlade.
