The retail sell through figures are out for December 2021 and remain strong against the last ‘normal’ year in 2019 as well as sales for 2020.
Total 2021 sales grew by almost 31% vs. 2020 and 45% vs. 2019. Also worth noting is total equipment sales for the month, which were slightly below December 2020 (-3.9%), but remained well above 2019 (+52.1%).
Total sales for the last six months of 2021 were 1.3% higher than 2020 and 48.9% higher than in 2019, so while sales are slowing, they’re still significantly elevated over pre-pandemic levels
Says Golf Datatech co-founder, John Krzynowek, “We always knew total equipment sales couldn’t continue to soar forever, and it appears we’re near a demand peak, well above 2019 levels. At the same time, data from the field suggests inventories remain extremely lean but did improve in some categories over the last 30 days of 2021”.
