golf datatech equipment sales market analysis october 2022

The US golf retail sales figures are published by us today, with data for April 2024. Overall sales YTD remain slightly higher than in 2023, even though April sales were down almost 1%.

Shoes continue to be a drag on the overall golf equipment category: down 11% for the month and YTD. Meanwhile the growth categories for April were Putters (+14%), Wedges (+11%) and Distance Devices (+2%)

On the latest results, Golf Datatech co-founder John Krzynowek said, “Equipment sales remain healthy thru April of ’24.  Overall, golf club sales in woods and irons were slightly lower while the single clubs, wedges and putters, offset their decline.  The other major equipment category, balls, was virtually unchanged from year ago.

Additionally, unit percent change and dollar change were relatively close across product categories, suggesting price stabilization at retail.”
