April Woods and Irons Data Summary

In April 2023, total wood sales (in dollars) were lower than the same month in the prior year for the 15th consecutive month, BUT still remain 26% higher than they were in 2019 (pre-pandemic).
After peaking in February at more than $460 per stick, the Average Selling Price (ASP) for drivers fell back by 4% in April. Over the course of 2023, we are likely to see ASP’s fall as trade and brand inventories swell, leading to discounted prices that we haven’t seen since before Covid.
Also in April this year, iron sales (in dollars) were down 7% and unit sales continue to be even more sluggish: down 11% – an indication that ASP’s are still increasing. ASP’s eclipsed $140 per stick for the first time in February and the iron category remains in unchartered territory price-wise.
