Warm Weather Boost for Golf in March

Golf Datatech rounds played report is published today

The National Rounds Played Report is published by Golf Datatech this week for March 2024 with year over year results for eight regions, all states and several metropolitan areas.

Rounds played exploded across the US in March and were up +21% for the month and +6.8% YTD vs Q1 2023.

Due to a mild March across the northern tier, many golf markets saw significant play during a time of year when they normally are closed or just experiencing minimal play. In fact, with the exception of South Atlantic, all regions saw increases in rounds played.

On the latest results, GDT co-founder John Krzynowek said, “Rounds of golf blew the top off in March, as warmer weather in the north combined with much less precipitation in the west to create a great opportunity for golfers to get their season started early.  We’re off to a great start with rounds up almost 7% for the first quarter, and we’re headed into the heavy play months with significant momentum.  As always, weather is the great equalizer, and a rough patch of precipitation and cold weather can have immediate impact, but so far the year is off to an excellent start.”
